CONSTRUCTION INJURIES

CONSTRUCTION INJURIES AND DEATHS ARE OFTEN CAUSED BY THIRD PARTIES ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE, AND NOT THE INNOCENT EMPLOYEE.

The US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics collects data and compiles census information on fatal and non-fatal injuries in the workplace. The Fatal Occupational Injuries By Industry And Event Or Exposure, All United States, 2014, reports that in the construction industry alone, there were 899 fatal injuries, and in the construction of buildings, in general, there were 180 fatal injuries. As the vast majority of those fatalities, 84 deaths were caused by falls, slips, trips. 21 were caused by violence and other injuries by persons or animals. In 2015, there were 937 fatal injuries in the construction industry, 364 of which were falls, slips, trips and 32 were caused by violence and other injuries by persons or animals. In 2015, there were approximately 2.9 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses reported by private industry employers.

If the injuries were caused by someone other than the employer or the employer’s employees, such as a third party working on the premises, a lawsuit can be filed to seek compensation for lost wages, lost earning capacity, actual out of pocket losses, pain and suffering in the present and future, mental anguish in the present and future, and payment of past and future medical bills.

Our representation of those who sustain a personal injury on construction sites is on a “contingency fee” basis, meaning that the lawyers getting paid their attorney’s fees and being reimbursed for their expense in the case is “contingent” upon the lawyers making a recovery in your case. If the lawyers do not make a recovery in your case, you owe neither attorney’s fees or reimbursement of their expenses.

If you or a loved one was seriously injured or killed in a construction site, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact The Heard Law Firm today for a free evaluation of your case.
